Restylane® | JUVEDERM® | Radiesse® | Barrington As we age, our skin begins to lose its fullness, and sagging, wrinkling and hollowing occur. These changes and other effects of aging can be improved through the use of skin fillers and volumizers. These treatments, often made from collagen, hyaluronic acid gel and other natural substances, are injected directly into the skin to restore fullness and smooth out wrinkles and other fine lines. The injected substance supports the skin and restores the volume lost over time.

Skin fillers and volumizers can be used to treat the cheeks, eyes, mouth, brow, chin nose and any other area of the face that may be affected by aging. The results are often visible immediately and continue to improve over several months. Many of the specific treatments have been approved by the FDA and are considered safe procedures with little to no side effects.

Restylane®

Approved by the FDA, Restylane® is designed to match your skin, smoothing wrinkles, sculpting lips or shaping facial contours. With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane® is able to perform for many months in your skin. The most common areas for a Restylane® treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). When used for lips or facial contouring, Restylane® will add shape and volume to the area. Restylane® is able to create volume under your wrinkles, which are then lifted up and smoothed out.

Since no pre-testing is required, a Restylane® treatment can be performed almost immediately. It usually takes about 30 minutes depending on the type of correction you want. Most people find the injections relatively painless, but a topical anesthetic can be applied to the area prior to your treatment. You will be able to see the results as soon as your treatment is completed.

Restylane®, manufactured by a unique method in Sweden, is clear transparent gel composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found throughout your body. Hyaluronic acid gives volume to your skin and has been used as a lubricant in arthritic joints. It has even been used during eye surgery to protect the retina. The hyaluronic acid found in Restylane® is not of animal or human origin which means that there is no risk of disease transmittal or allergic reaction, which you might find in other cosmetic fillers. There is no need for skin tests and the risk of side effects is very low.

JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel

JUVÉDERM™ is an injectable gel that gently reverses many signs of aging in the face, including fine lines and wrinkles, crow's feet, thin lips and loosening skin. It can also "plump up" the lips, sculpt the cheeks, and restore a youthful oval shape to the face. It is made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen to give volume and support to the skin. Because it is non-animal-based and highly biocompatible, no pre-treatment testing is needed. JUVÉDERM™ comes in three formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated. Results last about 6-9 months and can be made to last even longer with a simple follow-up treatment a few weeks after the initial injection.

CosmoPlast™

Most types of injectable collagen are derived from purified bovine (cow) products, which means patients must undergo skin allergy tests and wait weeks for results before you can begin treatments. But CosmoPlast™, a soft-tissue filler made from human collagen, is similar to what's already in the body, eliminating the need for pre-treatment testing and reducing recovery time for fast, simple improvement of facial lines and wrinkles. With as little as one trip to the physician's office, you can be on your way to enjoying a healthier, younger appearance for up to six months.

Radiesse™

Radiesse™ is a synthetic injectable filler that reduces wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting the body's natural collagen supply. Composed of microspheres in a biocompatible gel, Radiesse™ is made from the same minerals found in our bones, so it carries little risk of allergic reaction. Radiesse™ can be used on many areas of the body, including the lips, nasolabial folds, peri-oral lines, depressed scars and oral commissures.

Treatments typically take 15 minutes and require only local anesthetic. Side effects such as swelling or bruising are minimal and should fade within a few days. Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last for months or years, although the procedure can be repeated as often as you wish.

Evolence®

Evolence® is an advanced collagen-based dermal filler especially effective in treating nasolabial folds. Injected just below the skin's surface, Evolence® replaces facial collagen, which naturally depletes with age, and smoothes out wrinkles and folds. Evolence® uses innovative Glymatrix technology, which increases the stability and longevity of the filler.

The results of Evolence® injections are visible immediately and provide a natural enhancement with minimal swelling or bruising. If swelling does occur, it usually subsides after a few hours. Most patients achieve desired results after just one treatment session, although touch-ups may be desired in the future. Results are proven to last for at least six months, with some patients reporting results lasting up to a year.

Sculptra®
