Dr. Derick, a Fremd High School graduate, received her B.S. degree summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame. She then attended the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and received her medical degree with Honors. She was given the American Medical Women's Association Award for outstanding scholastic achievement, as well as the Catherine Dobson prize for her clinical research.
Following an Internal Medicine internship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Dr. Derick returned to the University of Chicago Hospitals for her Dermatology residency. During her final year, she served as Chief Resident and received a Women's Dermatologic Society's mentorship award to study cutaneous laser surgery.
Dr. Derick has published several scholarly articles and delivered presentations on the national level. She has been featured as an expert in cosmetic dermatology on NBC News. Dr. Derick has been quoted in such media sources as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News & World Report, CNN.com, Shape Magazine, Cooking Light, Delicious Living, Woman's World, and many more.
Dr. Derick and her husband Michael appreciate suburban life after many years living downtown. They enjoy spending time with their two sons Charlie and Henry, her parents, Paul and Susan Farmer, and her parents' Weimaraner dogs, Bailey and Baron.
